This four-part workshop will take you
through the steps of having your own colony this Spring. PLEASE
SIGN UP EARLY. This improves your chances of having a successful
year. This adult program is led by Stuart Woronecki, owner of
Stonewall Apiary in Hanover that keeps approximately 120 honeybee
colonies in eastern CT. Participants will have the opportunity to
take a field trip to a Stonewall Apiary’s bee yard and purchase
equipment. Package bees can be reserved.
NOTE: Limited amount of bees available.
#1: GETTING STARTED
Equipment basics: wooden ware, frames, tools, protective clothing,
ordering & assembling equipment.

SESSION 2; FEB 3 OR 10: 6:30 TO 9 P.M.
Session 1 includes a Make-up Day at the end for bad weather. If it
is not used, Session 2 will begin on Feb 3 otherwise a week later.
#2: THE HONEYBEE
The queen, workers and drones; changes throughout the season; the brood cycle.

Mice, wax moths, small hive beetles, foulbrood, chalkbrood,

#4: ODDS ‘N ENDS
Wrap up unfinished topics; pollinator-friendly plantings; honey
harvest and processing (if time permits).
